PBIS Overview

A L  Conner Elementary School began school-wide implementation of Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) in 2013-2014. PBIS focuses on creating and sustaining school-wide, classroom, and individual systems of support that improve the educational environment for all children. Our aim is to explicitly teach behavioral expectations and then recognize the positive behaviors shown to support Positive School Climate

By implementing PBIS, our goal is to continue to reduce school and classroom behavior disruptions, office discipline referrals, improve attendance, improve punctuality, educate all students about acceptable school behaviors and most importantly, improve academic achievement. Our PBIS implementation plan includes clearly defined outcomes, research-validated practices, supportive administrative systems, and information for problem solving.

All staff members at A. L. Conner Elementary School will establish regular, predictable, positive learning and teaching environments. The staff members will serve as positive role models to students as they teach expected school behaviors.

Our school also has a system in place for recognizing and rewarding expected behaviors. By improving the School Climate, we hope to increase learning time and promote academic and social success for every student.
